Teaching online is a fun and rewarding career if you have the passion and drive for it. I simply cannot imagine not teaching pre-k. Since 2006 I've taught all preschool ages as an in-school teacher in many establishments. Naturally I take a lot away from all of the experience I've accumulated over the years. The classes are developmentally appropriate for the preschool age group. I aim to make my preschool classes educationally sound yet foster a sense of wonder and excitement, while following the guidelines for the early learning and developmental standards for a child aged 3 - 5 (although age 6-7 will also benefit.)
Visuals and interactive content are helpful when virtually teaching students. Students are engaged as they interact with creative slides and presentations or playing social games with their peers (I-spy or similar.) I also incorporate books and puppets for reading and dramatic theater, crafts and painting on canvases as well as activity/coloring sheets.
Children enrolled in a Class101 online virtual preschool course will explore all areas of development and education for their age group while freely socializing with their peers.
Social and Emotional Development
Pre-k children will explore socializing and interacting with their peers. They will learn how to process and handle those big emotions that so often lead to confusing yet emotional feelings. We use fun stories, theater puppets shows and arts and crafts activities to learn about the different emotions we have and how to identify and process them safely and effectively as a group.
Reading and Writing Comprehension
Even if your child is not ready to begin their writing journey they will continue their reading journey with Class101. Comprehending what we are reading or talking about by discussing stories is a vital part of any Class101 course. We will talk about new subjects and characters within the stories that your child may likely be unfamiliar with. We will also practice tracing letters and words with unique activity sheets. A fun activity I absolutely love to incorporate is to create a unique story with the class. Each child adds a unique part to the story and it's corresponding picture. I then create the story digitally for the class to read in the next class. Parents and guardians generally love to receive the digital copy for future reading!
Math and Money Management
Yes! Even at preschool ages your child can start learning about math and it's function with-in our society. Class101 preschool students will also learn about shapes they usually aren't introduced to yet as well as the familiar concepts they see everyday. Another aspect of Class101's unique classes is that we like to use arts and crafts while learning math concepts. They will practice tracing, drawing, and coloring all sorts of aspects related to money, counting, shapes, and the like. A Class101 class might have a child use measuring cups and spoons to learn about sizes and volume … while also incorporating science. We do this by exploring items that are solids, liquids, what items float or sink, etc. Of course it is our goal that each child can complete this activity as independently as possible. However some prep from a parent or guardian is needed each class.
Arts and Crafts Exploration
Your child will explore the most creative and unique arts and crafts activities daily while practicing hand and eye coordination. I love to incorporate paint and canvas exploration. Mixing paint colors and brush styles is definitely a pre-k favorite. Children love to find out what colors we get ( by mixing green and pink or red and blue ) each class. Children will enjoy themed crafting with fuzzy pom-poms, pipe cleaners, foam, string, and more. They will also enjoy incorporating a canvas art picture about what we are learning for the day.
Science
Science is a huge part of a child's early development. Ms. Stephanie incorporates science from all subjects, even math and art. We learn about the different types of weather, outer space exploration, bugs , and the world around us. We have fun completing all sorts of science experiments that are safe(even some are safe to eat) and comprehendible for their age group.
Music and Movement
It is also an important to include daily exercise and music exploration. We do this in so many ways. Each day is different. Whether we are doing child yoga poses and stretching or we are dancing to some preschool favorites we always get our wiggles out before learning. In fact many of the academic subjects incorporate music and movement.
